Chapter 12
As expected, the bouncer gave him a simple nod, and he entered without protocol. Buying a drink for a dude always paid off, one way or the other.
The club was a wild place, really, not wild as in rowdy and noisy, although it was really rowdy and noisy, it was a Friday after all. The club was a place that needed more attention from its managers and caretakers. It was wild and slightly abandoned; besides the fact that the blue light was soft and still cast a glow on everybody’s faces and the speakers seemed to be working just fine as they blasted some really loud pop music, the walls of the club needed some new paint, and the tables wouldn’t complain if they were changed.
It was hard to notice these things under the influence of alcohol and the deceptive blue light, but then Smith was neither a drunk nor easily deceived; he had combed the club the first minute he left the office.
