Chapter 50
Smith put down his newspaper. He did not want to read any further on the story. He knew if he did, then somewhere between those lines, he would find some absurd reason why the teenager did what he did. Smith knew he was living in a crazy world with mad and half-mad people, psychos, criminals, and thieves, and a lot of others in categories not listed yet equally deadly and delusional.
The more crazy stories he saw on a daily basis, the more he resigned to living a life far away from people and all that they represented. They could switch moments and decide that his head looked prettier on a table rather than on his neck, and that would be all the reason they needed to kill him.
Away from the newspaper and that disturbing news, he pulled his cup of coffee closer and took a sip of it, hoping a little caffeine would help his mind and maybe warm his body.
