Chapter 51
Smith refused to get involved in office gossip and plots that would make him seem like a scheming bastard or maybe disapprove and still make him sound like a wimp and some goody two shoes. He knew how corrupt the system was; he even sometimes knew who did what and why, but then, he had learned a very long time ago how to simply look the other way when such arrangements were being made.
Opening the car, he got into the driver’s seat and settled before turning it on. The small car roared to life and coughed a few times before the engine began to hum more smoothly.
“Erhmmm, I don’t mean to insult your ride or anything, but I think the car may need a bit of rest. Don’t you think we should use one of the vans?” he asked.
