Chapter 55

As Teddy arrived at work that morning, the first thing he noticed was that the cleaners had not yet arrived, or maybe there was a little problem or crisis at the front. On the porch of the building, there were pieces of paper, strips of fabric, and many other items that seemed to come from inside the building. Teddy quickly guessed that the cleaners had not done their job that day.

He made his way inside the building, and the first person he saw was the office lady who usually cleaned the building. He was surprised to see her considering that he was almost sure she had not arrived at work yet, which explained the state of the front porch. She shook her head at him even as he whispered hello, but she did not reply.

He noticed that she was not dressed in her work clothes; across her shoulder was a small handbag, one of those things that women carried around that could look as small as a purse but could fit all their belongings. Teddy was yet to understand the magic that ma
