Chapter 40. Unforeseen Consequences
Chris’s POV
Kalix walked on the opposite side of the hallway from me as we cleared the rumble from the south wing. We have already cleared two other paths so that the staff can get more supplies.
As we got closer to the piles of cement blocks, we started taking the biggest ones outside. We couldn’t stop trying to top each other, and it was getting silly, but I didn’t look like a weak Beta. Kalix had an edge to his attitude because he thought being an Alpha meant more. I was a Shadow wolf born with Alpha blood too.
Kalix was part of the Trio, so he needed to die no matter what. I didn’t have any other reason to hate him besides that, but I was also sure that Kalix was just as mean and bad as all the other Alphas in his line. The more time I spent with these kids, the less clear my mind became.
