Chapter 42. Shattered Loyalties
Elise Caius and Chris came back with some much-needed food, like burgers, salads, fries, and tacos, which everyone ate right away. As old friends and new acquaintances sat in a circle, I could feel a new connection between us. A bond that I’m sure none of us saw coming.
I plopped down on the floor, ready to end the long, bad day. Owen sat down next to me, and Kalix sat down next to Owen. Caius rubbed his eyes and laid down next to me because he was tired. Sia then laid down next to Caius. Chris sighed, lying down between Kalix and Sia. He didn’t want to admit it, but he felt strangely drawn to this group. I think he was too tired to fight it. We all lay down together, and our heads made a circle.
“I can’t believe the Rogues attacked just this morning,” I spoke with a yawn.
