Chapter 41. You’re Lucky

I was so frustrated my own aura was pouring out of me, making anyone below me jump to attention.

Owen and Sia ran out of the lab and stopped right where they were at the site. As I yelled for help, I was holding a half-dead Kalix in my arms.

“What the fuck happened?” Caius questioned, walking out from the same doors and froze next to Owen. He looked at me like he didn’t understand what I was doing. Was I trying to save an heir for real? No, I wasn’t just saving an heir; I was worried about him. Caius might have thought I was losing my humanity, but this showed him I was just lost. Lost track of our mission, who I was, and how far I could go on this mission.
