Chapter 49. Want

Faye’s POV

My purpose was to train and lead our warriors, and I was the best the Shadows had, aside from Caius, of course, but he couldn’t be everywhere at once. Chris was second in command, and he was too smart for his own good. I was stronger than my brother, though. I knew more about how to fight and how to plan a battle than he did. Chris was perfect for Beta and I was perfect for head warrior.

Standing here in Owen’s presence had all my strength washing away. I was a warrior, but I was also a woman. A female wolf who was meant to be a mother to our family. I wish the goddess didn’t make our need to bear children so strong. It would help stop the need to be with a man all the time.

Owen wasn’t just a man, either. He said he would be Beta, but his aura was all Alpha. A strong Alpha. I’ve never felt so strong outside of Shadow Wolves until I met this one. To be wanted and claimed, but there was something so strong that made me want him even more.

Fuck god,
