Chapter 72. Awakening

Elise’s POV

The King walked up to a big wooden stage that looked out over a round field with shops around its edges. Large chairs on the stage stood in for the thrones of the King and Queen, and there were seats on both sides for Alpha Owen’s and Alpha Kalix’s families. It was built by my great-great-grandfather more than a hundred years ago to hold events like the one we are celebrating today. Over time, the royal families began to use it as a stage.

Behind the stage, shops and small restaurants had been added to make it more modern. They were all around a park-like area with a large covered dance floor in the middle. Luna Kerstin had red and white roses and fairy lights all over the area.

As the King walked toward the center of the stage, the band stopped playing. “Welcome, pack and allies, to a big party in honor of your future Queen and King. My daughter turns 18 today, and I’m sure she’ll find her soul mate, whether it’s meant to be or not.
