Elise’s POV

After I threw Caius out the window, I calmed down. I knew I was acting irrationally, but I could barely keep my emotions in check. There were only a few hours left before my fate was set in stone. I went to the bathroom to wash my face with cold water. When I looked into my own eyes, I told myself I had been a fool and needed to get my head on straight.

I wasn’t a child anymore. Tonight, I’d be with my love, and a month from now, we’d be married, and I’d be crowned Queen. These fits of jealousy and crushes on other girls had to stop. Finn was my friend and the only man who ever loved me for who I was. He never left me, no matter what my family put me through. He was always there for me and helped me get through my father’s cruel punishments. He might want to be King, but I knew he liked me for who I was, not just for what I could do for him. No one else had ever shown me so much.
