Chapter 120. Honey, That Was Me
Carlos wrapped his arms around Fiona when she cuddled into him. She was made to fit into his arms; he felt no doubt about that. He remembered the feeling of hugging her after putting a bullet to the intruder’s head. She was shaking like a leaf, and in that moment, he had wanted to keep her safe, to make sure she never felt so scared ever again.
That was not how things were supposed to be. He was not sure how everything had changed from wanting to terrify her so badly that she was scared in a way that she would never recover from to wanting to make sure that she never felt scared or unsafe again.
He ought to be worried about this. He ought to be scared that he had lost all power against her and he was as vulnerable as an egg in her hands and she could smash him to pieces whenever she damned well pleased. But it was hard to see her as dangerous when she was so small and soft and warm in his arms.
