Chapter 16. Revenge Is a Dish Best Served Cold
One of the Man in Black’s bodyguards brought another chair and placed it next to Carlos’s foster father. While taking a seat, Carlos did not miss the fact that the two who were now kneeling in front of him and the Man in Black had their mouths wide open.
“How’s your head, son?” the Man in Black asked.
“It’s much better, father, thank you.” Carlos wasn’t sure if it was the right thing to do, calling the Man in Black “father,” but he did it anyway, and it was so satisfying to see more shock on the faces of the kneeling duo. He was sure their faces could no longer hold any more surprise, but he was wrong. Zama’s eyes bulged as though they would fall out of her head at any moment, and her mouth opened and closed, making her look like a fish.
Frank looked as though he was battling between anger, surprise, and frustration.
“Glad to hear it, my boy,” the Man in Black said with a wide smile. “So, I’m trying to figure something out. I wonder if you can help me, boy.”<
