Chapter 177. A Shadow of Doubt
Carlos had reached for one of the many conveniently placed guns around the room within the next half second. He swung around and aimed directly at the spot where he had seen the figure lurking…but there was no one there.
He turned around the room quickly. He knew this space like the back of his hand plus it was designed to make sure a person could not comfortably hide in. They would be seen in an instant. And yet no one was seen.
He eased out of bed cautiously and turned around the room but now that he had his wits about him, now that he had eased out of the state of mind that his dream had put him in, he was sure that there was no one in the room. His ears would’ve picked up the sound if any had been made. Even in his sleep.
