Chapter 277. The Live Performance
He marched as though he was off to battle, face blank, feet sure. His silk robe billowed behind him. Out the door, down the hall, past the kitchen. The steps had never felt longer.
He walked in without knocking and closed the door as casually as though he was walking into a meeting he was expected at. He flicked the light switch on, leaned back against the wall beside the door and crossed his arms in one fluid motion. He took in her shocked state and the clothes she clutched against her body and raised a brow. Brow still raised, face blank, he pointed to the cameras up at the corner of the ceiling.
Her eyes went wide and her face paled.
“Surprised?” he asked. “Or playing at it.”
“What?”
“I must say I was enjoying the show but I figured I’d rather see it live,” her face flushed red and Carlos felt a tiny spark of mischief at that. “Better yet if it’s a show I can make comments and,” he eyed her slowly, “requests. Go right ahead, I’m seated.”
