Chapter 35. Getting Lucky
“Hi,” her voice was soft and light, even with the noise. “Um, I hope I didn’t make you uncomfortable. Sorry about that.”
Carlos frowned, almost raising an amused brow as he observed her face for anything to be wary of. It was odd as hell that she’d come up to him to apologize, because they were at a club, for Pete’s sake. Everyone was fair game, and if someone wasn’t interested, all you had to do was move on to the next target. She squirmed a bit, seemingly uncomfortable under his probing gaze.
“It’s fine,” he said eventually, and smiled a little, deciding to take the heat off her. “No harm done.”
“Glad to hear,” she said with a relieved smile that made his lips tug up with unexpected humor.
“Is this your first time in a place like this?” he asked.
“God, no, just…” she broke off and changed the subject in a very unsubtle manner. “Are you here alone?”
