Give it five, maybe six months, when I’ve had my fun with you and you have no more will or hope left in you. When it has finally occurred to you that no one is coming for you and you are entirely at my mercy. Trust me, dear friend. You’ll talk then.”
With that, the switch went on again.

No amount of information could ever have prepared Carlos for the actual experience of undergoing torture. The Torturer was cruel and flippantly so, which irritated Carlos to no end. He behaved like the overeager organizer behind a company bonding retreat that no one wanted to attend, talking on and on about making everything ‘fun’ and ‘exciting.’ Nothing in the world could possibly make getting your nails pulled out a ‘fun’ or ‘exciting’ experience.
