Chapter 62. Suspicious Activities
Carlos followed her gaze and found the painting they’d secured for Jonathan Foster. He was about to speak when Ashley got out of her seat and walked back into the house, drawing closer to the painting.
“What’s wrong?” he followed her.
“Oh God,” she muttered. “I keep seeing signs everywhere.”
She then turned to Carlos. “Truth is, I have been trying to avoid telling you this for a while because…because I was scared, I guess. It worried me what you would think. But I can’t keep running away from it, or I swear I will never get a chance to tell you. And you deserve to know.”
“What are you talking about?” Carlos asked, his brows furrowed and a sense of worry creeping over him. Ashley walked quietly to her bag, which had lain on a coffee table since she came in, or at least as silently as she could possibly move with those pencils strapped to her feet.
