Chapter 66. The Lights, the Music, the Girls
While authorities were still looking for the mysterious building, Clyde McCarthy had tracked an unmarked van that had been in the area when his safe was robbed. He’d confirmed that it belonged to Carlos and tracked it, followed it, and robbed it of its contents: a number of large cardboard boxes that could very well have contained stacks of cash. They didn’t, though.
Carlos’ shipping company was in the news because one of the trucks that transported a batch of surprise gifts that were to be donated to a list of orphanages as a means of giving back to society had been stolen. The truckload was recovered quickly enough because the company had experience with handling this sort of situation.
Along with the items that were recovered, a few people who took part in the robbery were apprehended and interrogated in secret. In the open, the company had many people who sympathized with them and many who deliberated on who was behind the robbery.
