    I woke up in the pack hospital. Max held my hand beside me and stroked my hair out of my face. 

    "Oh, baby I am so glad that you are awake. I'm not so happy about the fact that you put yourself into such a shitty situation like that." Max gushed, and I smiled. 

    "What about Miller?" I asked, not sure how long I had been out of it.

    Max sat back in the chair and sighed as he rubbed his forehead. 

    "He's gone," he answered without looking my way. 

    What did he mean by gone?

    Was he hiding something from me?

    "Max?" someone knocked on the door, and Max immediately went to it without even giving me a proper explanation.
