The next day dawned, casting its dim light upon the throne chamber where Lola had endured a night of torment and isolation. Edgar, still cloaked in his malevolent nature, approached her with calculated steps. The chains that had bound her to the throne were removed, allowing her a taste of freedom, albeit within the confines of his malevolent grasp.
Lola’s body ached as she attempted to rise, her muscles protesting against the strain they had endured. Weak and unsteady, she nearly collapsed to the ground, her balance forsaking her. In that moment, however, Edgar extended his hand, catching her before she could fall, surprising her with a gesture of unexpected gentleness.
“Thank you...” she whispered.
