THE NEXT day, Lucian was released from the hospital.

Shirley insists on driving him home, but George and Alicia are as persistent as she is. Shirley had no choice but to yield to them. Before the Caldwells left the parking lot, Latton hurriedly ran to them, “Is it okay if I come with you?” She asked nicely.

George and Alicia glanced at each other. George wanted to agree, but Alicia politely declined, “Maybe next time, Latton.”

Latton smiled, “Understood,” she mumbled, then glanced at Lucian who was silently looking at the opposite side of the parking lot staring blankly outside, “I’ll visit soon.” She uttered painfully then waved them goodbye.

She wanted to follow them, but she felt that Alicia’s protectiveness would work to her advantage. She is well aware that they don’t like Shirley around their son. Knowing that detail, she knew too well that they wouldn’t allow her to visit him.
