Chapter 142. A Principled Woman

"Threats?" Eva let out a bitter laugh. "I came here to visit my mother, but you think I'm a threat? Don't tell me this is just a ploy to keep me away from Mom."

Ava furrowed her eyebrows in displeasure. "I never had such intention. You want to take Mom completely for you? Go ahead. I don't care anymore."

Ava's tongue felt numb after saying that. But strangely, her heart actually felt relief. It's like a huge burden had been removed from it.

Meanwhile, Eva's expression froze. She didn't expect to hear those words from "cowardly Ava".

"What do you mean? You want to throw the responsibility of taking care of her on me?"

"My priority now is just being filial. That's the reason why I take care of her here. But, even if my efforts are not appreciated, I have nothing to lose. I have realized that her affection does not make me a better person. I can still live without it."

Raising her chin, Ava moved closer to the gate. She let her sister see her firmnes
