Chapter 44. Back to Square One

Alexus spotted Gwen walking towards him as he was about to enter the room where his wife was confined. He stopped and waited for the secret agent woman. "I'm glad I got you before you went in," Gwen remarked. "We need to talk, Alexus." 

"Can't that wait?" He asked. He wanted to tell the woman he was eager to see his wife. 

"No," she declared. "It's important to know first before you see her." 

"Alright. What about?" He asked, studying the woman's face. "Something happened here?" 

"No, nothing like that. Your wife's memory is back…." 

Alexus hesitated. "Are you sure about that?" 

"Yeah, I just talked with her physician. And it was confirmed." 

Alexus couldn't help but take a deep breath. "Thank you for telling me beforehand. That's a big help. Anything else?" He asked when he noticed that the woman was looking at him. 

"Can we sit down?" Gwen asked. She started to walk when Alexus nodded.
