I chose not to answer him, giving my parents the impression that I don’t give a damn about whatever he says.
At that moment, I thought he would leave. I just rejected his help in front of everyone, and this isn’t even the first time this has happened.
But River stayed. Just like how the water flows into the sea, he remained sitting beside me.
I frowned, confused. I wanted to ask him, but Mom’s gaze flicked between us. It was sharper and more calculating than before.
