Chapter 40. Familiar Scent
“Serenity!”
I heard my mom’s voice and her footsteps toward my direction, along with the other maids, who noticed that I was already sitting on the floor. My knees became weak as my body shivered.
I don’t even have the strength to get up now, especially not with anyone’s help.
“What happened? Why are you shaking?” Mom asked, the worry evident in her voice as she came to me. “And you’re still supposed to be with Hans and be on a date with him. Why are you back so early?”
“I’m… not feeling well.”
I can’t even think about the fact that Mom was more worried about the date than her own daughter. Maybe I was too hurt to be disappointed now.
“You’re not feeling well?” She frowned, then helped me to stand up. “How could that happen? You’re always taking your vitamins, right? Including the medications I’m giving you?”
