Katarina's POV

"Why are they looking for me?" I asked them nervously. But they're so engrossed in their talks that they didn't hear me.

"Why me-" I tried to intervene again

"She's mine. They can fuck themselves." Alex stopped me off while squeezing my waist. James chuckled seeing his reaction.

"But you do know that they'd be attending the party tomorrow? They will look for her." James played with his hair as Alex looked at me before replying to him.

"She'll be safe with me!" Alex assured him. "I'll watch her tomorrow." His voice was barely audible, but it still caused butterflies in my stomach, and my heart skipped a beat. Is he really worried about me? And why is the Mendez family looking for me? Why do they want me? I am a mere human.

"Alex, I-"

"Go to your room and sleep," Alex said in a harsh tone, causing me to shrug his hand away. "Good night" I mumbled to them and walked to my room.
