“We need to talk.”

For a second, I didn’t move.

Sloane sat in the chair beside my window as if she belonged there.

My annoyance with Liam disappeared.

“What are you doing in my room?”

“I was waiting for you.”

“You could have waited outside.”

A faint smile touched her mouth, pulling slightly at the healing cut near her lip.

“You’ve been here less than a day and you’re already territorial.”

I looked at the door behind me.

Then back at her.

Kade’s warning came immediately to mind.

Something is wrong inside Moonhaven.

He didn’t want anyone knowing what had changed.

With Sloane.

With him.

With anything that might make someone behave differently.

So I kept my voice even.

“What do you want?”

Sloane stood carefully.

Her ribs were obviously still bothering her, though she tried not to show it.

For a moment, I remembered her leaving dinner.
