“I think I could be pregnant.”

For several seconds, nobody moved.

Sloane sat across from me with both hands folded tightly in her lap.

My attention went straight to Abby.

The color had drained from her face.

“Sloane,” she said carefully, “have you taken a test?”

“No.”

“Have you spoken to Daphne?”

“Not yet.”

Cassandra frowned. “You've been under enormous stress. You were attacked, injured, barely sleeping. Any of that could delay your period.”

“I know.”

“How late are you?”

“Almost a week.”
