Chapter 21

Hana never told me anything. She grinned, as usual, playfully tugging at my cheeks with a small laugh. “Ugh, when did my baby sister grow up so much?” I shrugged in response, suddenly feeling suffocated by the environment. At that moment, I decided to go somewhere other than home. Maybe grocery shopping.
I grabbed a coat, even though I might not wear it. I took it because it reminded me of the one person I hated to think about, yet he invaded my thoughts helplessly with his scent and memories. The weather was humid, making the ground soft, but it was chilly enough not to feel like blocks of ice had been released upon me.
“Do you have a list?” Hana asked when she saw me take my purse from the counter.
“Just… a few things,” I replied, even though I didn’t actually have a list. I didn’t bother to make one. I just needed to go somewhere that wasn’t this space. And as if she could sense it, she didn’t offer to come along as she did before
