Chapter 58

The morning was as usual as it had always been for a year and some days now. My eyes fluttered open, getting accustomed to the dark, and expansive room. The house is silent and cold and doesn’t feel as usual as I had known it to be. I should be used to this atmosphere by now.
It had been a year. It is funny how a person can stay for a short moment with you and upturn your definition of normalcy. For a moment, I think I feel someone’s soft hands gently caressing my chin, I turn sideways and I’m met with the most dazzling smile I have seen in a long time. Her pale green eyes are looking up at me while her hands trace my face gently. I imagine her saying something to me with that smile still on her face and at that moment, I’m a tad surprised at whether I should bask in this imagination.
