“Don’t forget to turn in your project by the end of the week. Have a nice day.” the professor dismissed, taking a leave out of the class.
I groaned, exhausted from the week’s activity. I had tried avoiding working and studying rather and thought it more important to pour my all into getting this degree. So far, it was still draining but I could concentrate more. I didn’t have extra thoughts about people I didn’t want to think about.
My mum had tried calling me and as much as I indulged her calls with monotonous replies, it warmed my heart to know that even after all these years, she remembered—she needed to earn her forgiveness and so far, she had been trying to show up. Be present. Making my favorite meals she remembered except that I didn’t like those meals again. I appreciated her efforts though, I just didn’t want her in my space.
