Chapter 36. Don’t Fall Deeper
Calla watched Rico’s grin spread wider, his hand on her jaw pressing deeper. She finally reacted.
Her hands left her sides, clawing at his fingers on her jaw.
That only made him more furious—a predator enjoys the struggles of their prey. He charged forward with her, pushing her violently to the wall and she winced in pain as her back collided with the hard wall. The blanket that gave her some warmth was already lying on the cold floor, leaving her naked… and afraid.
“I fucking warned you this mouth of yours would get you into trouble, Lyra! I fucking warned you!” He roared, his hand now on her neck.
She couldn’t breathe, her vision now blurred by tears she didn’t want to fall. Her heart hammered loudly in her chest.
“Pl—please—” she struggled to say, the tears finally rolling down her cheeks. Her hand struggled to get his off her neck.
