Chapter 58. Spin-off (1)
(A few years later; Christmas Morning)
Tossing on my right side, I was expecting to feel Ben sleeping beside me, but the bed was empty. Letting out a groan, I opened my eyes to see that the space next to me was empty, making me pout. Sitting up, I let out a yawn before getting down the bed and drawing the curtains to let some sunshine into the room.
Putting on my sweater, I walk downstairs to hear Ben whispering and the sound of giggling from the kitchen. Tip-toeing, I walk over, hiding behind the wall, watching Savannah and Ben baking or, more like, attempting to bake cookies. Savannah is our five-year-old daughter, and at the moment, she is covered in baking powder.
“Daddy, why do these cookies don’t look round?” She asks, pointing to a chocolate cookie that looks anything but like a cookie.
“Sweetie, did you put in too much sugar?” Ben asks.
“How would I know, Daddy?” She asks, crossing her arms, and then pouts at him. “I am just five.”
