Chapter 13. Closer?

The moment Raven walked into her house, she froze on hearing Frank’s voice engaged in a conversation with her mom. Could she disappear from the scene? She had no wish to face Frank after a tiring day at work. She knew the motive of his visit. He wanted to convince her to attend the party at his house on Saturday. If he would really have cared for her and genuinely wanted her by his side, she would have agreed, but he was here only at his mom’s insistence. At the party, he would ignore her like always, leaving the guests speculating about their relationship. It was always this way. There was no escaping as her mom heard her. 

“Raven, Frank has been waiting for you for the last thirty minutes.” 

“I was at the office, mom.” She tried her best to overlook her mom’s disapproving tone. What could she do if Frank wanted to wait for her? 

“He wants you to attend the party at his house.” Raven groaned inwardly, wondering why her mom was blindly supporting him
