Chapter 33
Jackson's POV
"I can do it," I kept reminding myself.
If I was able to survive before, before I met her and those weeks after she left, then I could survive again. I didn’t need any woman. Not anymore.
It wouldn’t be easy to stop Tim from mentioning her, but I’d try my best. If I could keep him from seeing her again, he would eventually forget. He had to.
I focused on returning to my old routines. Wake up early, get Tim ready for school, prep myself for work, drop him off on the way, and spend my off-days at the plantation with him.
Just as expected, a few weeks passed, and Tim stopped bringing her up. I survived those days. Monica never left the house, but we pretended she didn’t exist. She was too busy hanging out with her friends to notice we were ignoring her.
Then came that morning, a new day, a new week, a new month. Tim and I were about to head out for a walk with his pet when the front door burst open.
