Vera's POV

"Terminate the pregnancy? Vera, are you all right?" Hannah asked, standing firmly in front of my door, arms crossed, eyes full of concern.

"Hannah, you and I both know what happened the last time I kept a pregnancy. What did I get after suffering for nine months and delivering in pain? Nothing but loss and heartbreak. I don’t want to go through that again!" I blinked hard, fighting back tears.

I turned around and went back inside, shoulders sagging under the weight of everything. I know she has a soft spot for Jackson, he’s already won her over. There was no way she was going to support me in ending this pregnancy. That’s why I didn’t tell her. But she found out anyway.

If she had arrived five seconds later, I would’ve been at the hospital, already in the process. I even considered calling someone to sign on my behalf just to get it done before she could stop me. But now, because she showed up right on time, I had no choice.
