Vera's POV

I believed Jackson would go along with Kenneth’s demands to make sure I was safe, but I didn’t expect him to actually show up in front of me.

When I heard loud voices outside the room where I was being held, I rushed to the door and peeped through the keyhole.

It took me a while to recognize the man yelling and pushing his way through what looked like over sixty armed guards. But when I realized it was Jack, my heart dropped.

What the hell is he thinking? Charging into the Prince of Wales' house, unarmed, unprepared, and alone? Does he think he’s invincible or something? That he could die and come back to life?

He didn’t even bring backup, no police, no team, no one. Just himself. Did he really think he could buy back his life if he lost it?

I didn’t even notice I was crying until Monica came through the back door. Her eyes were wide with shock.

"What did you do to Jack? He’s..." She trailed off and shook her head
