Chapter 209. Unexpected

Bella squeezed Austin's hand tightly. Daniel noticed and quickly averted his gaze.

"I appreciate that the company values my work, Daniel. But, I don’t think I can continue our collaboration... even though I'd like to," Bella replied, offering a warm smile.

"Thank you for your offer, Daniel," Bella said softly, looking at Daniel with understanding.

The weight of their gazes and the warmth of their smiles ensnared Daniel's thoughts. "How am I still trapped?" he mused internally.

Austin took Bella's hand, noticing the shadow of sadness that appeared when she declined Daniel's offer. Knowing Bella's passion for her work, Austin interjected, "Hey love, what's wrong? If you want to accept it, I'll support whatever you choose, hmm?"

Bella turned, offering a smile and a gentle shake of her head, choosing not to discuss her reasons for declining with Austin present. "Thank you, love," she replied.
