“I’m sure she would have some very choice words if she heard about this,” Eros laughed as he turned on the gas cooker. “She knows I’m doing good for myself, and that’s all that matters to her.”

Aria detected the note of finality in his voice. He wasn’t very comfortable talking about family, and she understood it could get difficult sometimes. Especially if you come from a family that has been through a lot of pain in the past.

“I never learned how to cook when I lived with my parents,” Aria began.

“You were never interested, or you weren’t given the chance to?” Eros asked as he leaned against the kitchen counter.

“My mum is a fantastic cook but she never let either me or my sisters help around in the kitchen. She likes her space, you know? So we were forbidden from helping out, so I ended up losing interest in cooking as I grew older.”
