Red felt a chill run down her spine as she walked with Aamon toward the city center. She already regretted agreeing to Aamon's absurd request for a date. 

On Earth, relationships were more like matchmaking, arranged by AI to reduce genetic disease and produce stronger generations. Dating felt outdated, and Red wasn't even sure what the point was. 

It seemed like "seeing someone" would be more appropriate before considering marriage.

"You still have your period?" Aamon asked as they approached the market.

Red gave him an annoyed look. "My period?" She immediately felt insecure. "Why are you asking about that?"

"Well, Fiona mentioned it to me last week."

"I mean, what for? My period has to do with..." Red swallowed hard. "... ovulation."
