Chapter 53. Open Sesame

"Is it safe?"

The half-whispered voice came from Kit's lips as they entered the nearly dark dungeon. The only light came from the torches placed at intervals along the walls. The ceiling was so high that you couldn't see it because it was so dark. It was a dungeon built in the bowels of a mountain.

"There's nothing here," Aamon replied.

"I mean, safe from your people."

Aamon turned quickly to Kit. "My people?"

"She's just a little uptight. No offense." Fiona immediately put her arms around Kit and giggled awkwardly. "We don't want to get into a fight with the Assassins, so I guess you can guarantee the safety of the three of us, right?"

"They're looking for half of the serum. I'm responsible for getting Kyra out of the dungeon," Aamon replied coldly.

"So Kyra is really alone down there?" asked Fiona.

Aamon nodded.

"So we are safe?"

Aamon's eyes looked at Fiona. "That depends."

"Let's go down," Red said
