Chapter 78. Dead End
Their search point was up to five miles away, with no idea of the conditions ahead. The small group moved around the left flank, avoiding the swarms of ants that kept attacking the constructed walls. As a result, Faith and the rest of the platoon had to hold their positions and outwit the ant swarms at the same time.
The terrain they were traveling on was a steep trail that ran through the side of a cliff with fragile footing. The trail was nearly a mile long, and they had to tread carefully. If one slipped, the others could fall into the ravine.
After crossing the trail, they came to hilly terrain with dense pine trees. The small group rested for a moment behind a mossy fallen tree.
"I really should have bitten when they barked in the courtyard. I just kept quiet. I thought silence was gold," Josh grumbled, beginning to talk about unimportant things.
