Chapter 110. Loss

As soon as the question was out of my mouth, I regretted it. Why did I even ask? It was not okay. It was not safe.

As a vampire now, I had to trust my own kind. And right now, my own kind was Bradley. So if he said that he was the last vampire in Seattle, I was supposed to believe that and not question it.

I could question other things, but not that.

Josh stared at me as if I was joking or as if I had lost my mind. “Are you being serious right now?”

I swallowed and then forced a chuckle. “Got you!” I tried to turn it all around as if it was a joke. “I’m just kidding. Vampires?” I scoffed playfully. “This is real life, not a movie!” I forced another chuckle as my heart pounded in nervousness. 

He squinted his eyes for a few seconds as he stared at me. Then he finally spoke again, “Why would you even ask me something like that?” A small smile played on his lips.

I ran my hand through my hair and replied, “Nothing.” I shrugged. “I just wanted to see yo
