Chapter 112. You Can’t Speak
“Lisa, Lisa, Lisa,” Josh said as he got closer to me. “Look at me, you need to get a hold of yourself. You’re innocent, you are.” He reached for my face and held it in his hand, running away my tears with his thumb.
His touch was comforting but they didn’t mean that it was magic and was just going to erase everything that I was going through, or everything that had happened.
“I’m not, Josh. I should have never asked Nora to come along with us. If she would have stayed home, she would have been alive. And you know this.” My voice was firm, and I sniffled loudly.
“Oh, Lisa. You’re so broken that you’re willing to carry burdens that you don’t deserve to carry.” He smiled sadly. “But know you’re not alone. I’m here. I’m here for you, and have been in your corner even before you knew me.”
