Chapter 191. Who to Trust?

My breath caught in my throat as Bradley’s words sunk in. Three caskets. The room suddenly felt colder, the air too thick to breathe. I stumbled back, my legs giving out as I collapsed into the chair behind me, the weight of everything crashing down all at once. 

“Three caskets?” I whispered, chuckling sadly to myself. This felt like a fever dream. It did not feel real at all. I swallowed and nodded as if I was using that gesture to help my mind sort out my thoughts, and it seemed to help…very little but yeah. 

“But you don’t know them. We don’t either. They were just random people,” Bradley continued. He flashed me a sad smile. “Don’t beat yourself up. You are going to be just fine.” 

“Just fine? I deserve to be in prison, I deserve to be behind bars right now.” I scoffed. 

He walked closer to me and shook his head gently. “No, you deserve to be happy.” Then he leaned in very closely to me and whispered. “You can’t trust him.”
