Chapter 88. The Car Ride

The car ride was quiet. The soft humming of the engine and some very low-volume music was the backdrop. I was seated next to the CEO in one of his fancy cars and he was the one driving. 

His attention was on the road and he did not mention or bring up what had happened in the room or the argument that we had. He also did not bring up the fact that I had told Mark about the contract marriage. 

I kept my attention on the scenery as we drove through the city and headed for Starlight. I knew that I would need to eat soon because I was feeling a bit lightheaded. But my mind fooled me into believing that I was full and didn’t need food. 

Maybe that was because I still had some adrenaline coursing through my veins. Or maybe I was just nervous to be in the same space as the CEO after his fit of rage and seeing those bones in that chest. 

The city was so nice. Seattle was actually such a lovely place to live, it was not perfect but it was so lovely. I was
