“Great job today, guys,” Kaci says as she turns the door board from ‘open’ to ‘close.’ “It’s been a great week, and as we all know, Saturday will be even more epic, so I want you all to go home, take some rest, and yeah… I’ll see you all tomorrow then.”

“So, where are you going from here?” Jack whispers in my ear from behind me, making me jolt.

“You need to stop doing that,” I say with a chuckle.

“Nah… I like catching you unawares. You’re always too prepared, and I like it when you’re loose.”

“Loose?” I say as we walk toward the staff room with the others to pick up my stuff.

“Yeah. You know, free. You’re always too uptight.”

“No, I’m not,” I argue as I pick up my bag and smile at Emily and Jasper as they leave.

“Sure, you are. The first day you arrived here, you saved the restaurant from bad criticism and managed to viralize yourself into getting a commercial contract. Talk about the biggest determination move.”
