By the time the sun began to fade behind the campus buildings, my patience had completely evaporated.
Sebastian hadn’t called. Hadn’t texted. Hadn’t even sent one of those “busy, talk later” messages he usually sends when work gets crazy.
If today wasn’t my day off according to the schedule he made for me and the rules attached to it, I would have shown up unannounced at the restaurant by now.
I stared at my phone for what felt like the hundredth time that evening. Nothing. Not even a ghost of a notification.
Didn’t he say he was going to pick me up? That we were going to spend some time together after my classes today? Now where is he?”
I waited a little longer—telling myself he was probably stuck at the restaurant or with a client, or maybe traffic was insane. But when the clock struck past six, I gave up pretending.
