“Yeah, Loren.” I started. I don’t even know where I’m heading; I just trust my instinct not to fail me now.
“She was with me through the storm. I didn’t want to give her a wrong impression.”
“Wrong impression?” She asked again.
God, no. Why do I keep saying the wrong things? I’m really the worst at lying.

“Yeah,” I muttered, gripping the edge of the table. Wait, should I even say that? That was not what I planned to say, right?
“I mean, she’s already suspicious. You know how Loren is. She reads too much into things.”

I glanced at her then; her jaw was clenched, her gaze fixed solely on me. It made my stomach twist. This girl has me in her fingers for real.
