Chapter 53

MELISSA

As we cook together, I smile and enjoy Angelo's company. We talk about everything, and he always manages to make me laugh in any situation.

"Well, everything looks great! Have a seat at the table, miss!" he says humorously, and I sit in the chair watching him serve the food we've made on my plate.

Angelo does the same with his plate before sitting down in front of me. I take some of the hot food and put it all in my mouth. I close my eyes when I feel the wonderful taste of Italian food against my tongue.

"Wow, you're the best!" I say, opening my eyes and eating some more of the food.

"We both did this together, so we're the best!" he says, raising his wine glass to toast my glass.

After dinner, Angelo and I are sitting on the big sofa. I feel good right now, and I know that when I leave, I'll feel lonely again. It's as if everything comes back to me after I walk out of that door. I turn my head to see Angelo looking at me.
